- To promote expertise in medical science in different streams like Allopathic, Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic medicine and paramedical science.
- To promote health care facilities to the people of Assam through different hospitals under the Directorate.
- To develop and sustain the medical education through proper planning.
- To promote research in the field of medical science in the state of Assam.
- To develop human resources in medical science through different institutions under the Directorate.
- Administrative control of the Undergraduate, Post-graduate Degree/Diploma and Post Doctoral courses of various Health Educational Institutions under this Directorate.
- Administrative control over all the colleges and hospital under it.
- The minimum qualification for admission as per the regulation of Tripura University is passed in HS (+2) Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with 50% marks in aggregate for General category and 45% in case of SC and ST candidates.
- The age of the candidate should not be more then 25 (Twenty-five) years as on 01/08/2016.
- The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.
